Learning Spanish

When you’ve lived in a foreign country for more than nine months and still aren’t semi-conversational in the language, it’s probably time to start taking classes.

I have tried to learn Spanish by myself through using Babbel, Duolingo, many other apps, general self-study and multiple other methods, except one, sitting in a classroom with others trying to learn.

There’s an accountability that you have when you’re in a classroom and there’s homework to do, and a sort of competitive nature to not be the worse one there!

You’re more motivated and driven to learn, at least in theory 🙂

It’s not that I don’t want to learn, it’s that sometimes you need that little extra push, or need to try something new. So I signed up for a four week intensive course, Monday to Thursday, 11:30-13:30.

We’ll see how my Spanish develops and if it works, carry on and see how I can improve upon it. If it doesn’t work too well, then I’ll seek to understand why and how I can apply myself better in the future.

And that’s my little tidbit for today.

Improving Photoshop knowledge by avoiding courses

My knowledge of Photoshop I would call good but not perfect.

However I always feel like there’s something MORE that I could do with my images.

Something that I’m not thinking about, because I never learnt existed.

How to Learn more photoshop

To solve this problem, I needed to learn more about photo editing. But HOW?

There are two solutions: take a course or teach yourself.

Okay, maybe there’s three solutions…. do both 🙂

I had a look at the course to become an Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) in Photoshop and discovered it’d cost approximately ÂŁ1000.

Then I discovered that there’s another stage of an Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) which would cost a lot more!

Now the ACA five day intensive course would be good enough for personal purposes, whilst the ACE would put you on a whole new level.

And this led me to my next question:

Is it worth it?

I deliberated and researched more into what was involved and then it hit me.

Smoke me a kipper, I’ll be back for breakfast – Ace Rimmer 😀

Even if you learnt it all in five days, how much of it will you remember a month later? Especially if you’re not using everything you learnt frequently.

Photoshop CC - Classroom in a book

That’s when I discovered the book, the official workbook from Adobe to teach you everything you need to know.

And the best thing? You work at your own pace, your own way and you have consistent reference material.

So naturally I bought the book and now it has finally arrived!

I’ll be working my way through it and teaching some of it right here on the site. So stay tuned!

If you want to get the book yourself, you can click HERE or on the book image.

Let me know if you bought the book and how useful you found it, or if you have another method to expertise.
